Gastronomy

A gourmet city

The whiff of a Liège waffle on a street corner, steins on terraces, a plate of Liège meatballs… There is no doubt that this is Liège gastronomy. Amazing gastronomy! Cuisine brimming with rich flavours. We offer the most starred gastronomy!

What do people in Liège eat ?

In a city that never sleeps, you can go out to eat at any time of the day or night.

If you have a sweet tooth, try the typical Liège waffle (not to be confused with the Brussels waffle, which is round with nib sugar) and café Liègeois. A little anecdote about the latter: it was originally called café viennois. It has been referred to as café Liègeois since the First World War (serving instant was out of the question).

Or do you prefer savoury foods? Go to one of the many typical establishments serving Liège meatballs. A hot dish, popular due to its slightly-sweet sauce!

And to quench your thirst, we have craft beers brewed in microbreweries, which are really popular at the moment. Or a pekat: a mix of a spirit and a sweet (cuberdon, violet) or fruit flavouring associated with the popular festival of 15 August
